So, I get asked a lot by my readers, business aquantinces, friends and family what “Miss Macross” means. (If you follow my Instagram, tumblr or Facebook cosplay page you’ve seen the name used.) . And I always just say “Oh it’s an anime thing…” And it’s usually enough for people to stop asking. There is actually a whole story behind the usage of the name and. Kind of want to clear the air today and enlighten you all on “why”.
I always knew about the series “Robotech” growing up, but it was about 10 years before my generation, and my dad was the real fan of it. When I was 16, I started dating my ex who was 7years older than me. He also really loved anime, manga and Japanese culture (but still really liked fashion, art and film as well). He had the big “Macross” (the Japanese “Robotech” which is essentially the same, but the story differs quite a bit sometimes) box set that was the first release on DVD. So he essentially introduced me to the series and we watched it all over a month.
It’s a really confusing and long story line, so I’ll spare the details. But basically, the three main characters are Rick Hunter, Lynn Minmay and Lisa Hayes. Rick is a pilot of a fighter jet/mech, Lisa is a sort of coordinator for the fighter jets, and Minmay is a newly discovered singer/actress on the SDF 1 Ship. Basically, Minmay entered a sort of beauty pageant aboard the ship called “the Miss Macross Contest” in where she won by her singing ability, which in turn becomes a detrimental part in saving the human race from the zentradi. (Ok too many details) anyways, Rick has a certain Infatuation for Minmay when he first meets her and through out most of the show. Minmay is kind of a klutz, she is really naive and oblivious to most things, and she’s always so busy with her career that it’s never really a priority to pursue any sort of relationship with Rick. (Plus she is just 16 ) Lisa and Rick always butt heads, Lisa is really intelligent and witty (behind a computer) but when she has to face something she looses all of her strengths. She ends up falling for Rick despite being a little older than him. In the end, Minmay doesn’t want to live in the spot light, she just wants a simple life with someone who she always cared for and loved (she’s about 18 or 19 at this point) but Rick ends up going with Lisa, realizing that his infatuation for Minmay was just that, and he always loved Lisa.
Ok How this all relates to me… Whilst watching this, my ex would always compare me to Minmay. He would say I look like her and was cute like her, but also that I had the same intelligence or naivety as her. (And he was indeed dissing me) it always kind of hurt but I didn’t say much about it. At first I thought this was funny, considering the fact that he would compare himself to Rick Hunter, and thought most of the anime Rick is seemingly in love with Minmay and Loathes Lisa. But, he would always compare his ex to Lisa (she was smart, independent, dedicated to “realistic” work, and she was kind of cold) until the end (which he has seen this series over and over again before) it all made sense. When I finished the anime, I felt really alone, and I related a lot to Minmay. Giving up everything you own or you are doing just to be with the person you love. For them to leave you to your own grief. And for another woman (s) .
Today, I associate with a more positive notion, that Minmay entered that contest, full of professionals and women who were stronger, smarter, wealthier and more beautiful than her,, and she still came out victor for her amazing talent. That inspired everyone! She is Miss Macross, and she forever will remain a legend. In all the new Macross sagas, she’s still referenced indirectly or explicitly. She grew up, she realized what’s important, and she’ll continue to touch people’s lives through her talent.
Sorry for the super long post, but hope you guys could get more insight to who I am I guess! And now I have a reference to whenever people ask me “why Miss Macross?” I hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Hello Everyone ! Hope you all have been having a stellar week! The weather has been so strange lately, I think I’m getting a sore throat ( ；´Д｀)… But I’m trying to stay a busy bee! I’m pretty proud of myself for blogging so often! I really do feel more fulfilled doing it! My goal is to do it everyday except weekends! (And on weekends I can do styling posts and inspo posts!) what do you think?
Anyways! Onto my outfit! This has become quite a uniform for me! I’ve been very inspired lately by Deanna Richmonds style (the designer/owner of Deandri) from her amazing shoes, cat hats, and all black ensembles. She embodies a very “uniform” style of dressing. I love how sylvia (once again!) captured just what i wanted/needed with this outfit! its great working with someone that just understands!! I was really excited to receive is cat hat from Ecugo.com ! I had been wanting one forever! Whenever I have a bad hair day, I just pop this sucker on and I’m instantly kawaii again! ☆〜（ゝ。∂） haha. The material is actually really nice too!! I think I’ll have this piece for a very long time, （＾ω＾）!!! As for the dress, Banggood.com sent me this piece and I adore it! The light weight chiffon really makes for a great piece for spring! And the classic collar and shift dress silhouette is just my favorite! The only thing, is that the lining is a little short on me… (I am 5’9″ so most things are short on me to be honest) so I usually wear it with a poly blend slip I have. I just didn’t photograph it here! (＞人＜;)

Hello everyone! I hope your week is going by well! I’ve been fairly busy with a few projects this week… Needless to say I’m very motivated and inspired!
Anyways, on to this beautiful shoot! I know I pic spammed you with this huge post, but I hope you enjoy all the lovely photos! I got the honor to model for my new friend Vanessa’s company “Creature of Habit“. Where she hand makes all these floral crowns! Some of them even light up! Vanessa also makes cosplay outfits (and very well might I add) so her fantasy/Japanese type influence is defiantly seen in her crowns and designs. Even just the placement on some of the headbands remind me of a creatures ears. I think it’s so adorable! The colors and flower types she uses really mesh together in a very cohesive collection for S/S 2013. I was very excited to see and model her new peices! I wanted to post this first with everyone in it, and later do more detailed outfit posts of my own sets. But for now you can see all the other wonderful ladies involved in this shoot! I made lots of new friends that day it was really nice! I can’t wait to meet up with them again! And just everyone looked so amazing! The location and just everything! So good! Which crown is your favorite?
If you haven’t already, please check out more of Creature of Habit here.
Hope you have a good one!

Hello everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was very exciting, I got to go to “A Current Affair” show and get some lovely vintage pieces, and yesterday, I got to shoot with Claudia Susanna finally! And Style Lorena Maraschi again with Scott up in Vasquez rocks! So two shoots going on simultaneously in the desert (⌒-⌒; ) . It was important though because it was the last time I would see Lorena and her mother Lucy before she went back to brazil… （；＿；） (and then she’s going to Tokyo! And then coming to either NY or LA for awhile at the end of the year! ^o^ ) I got to have a great day with them yesterday and we went to dinner at a very good Brazilian restaurant in Beverly Hills! It was so so good! It was sad to say our good byes after but they needed to catch their flight. Anyways! On to my outfit!
So I modeled for Deandri about a month ago, and I got these wonderful shoes that day! Deanna Richmond (the designer) is not only an amazingly innovative designer (with both shoes and clothing! She just produced her first Deandri line for F/W 2013/2014 this season!) she’s a really awesome person! Every time I hang out with her and learn something new, I respect her more and more (not to mention the obvious girl crush, I mean she’s just so pretty/cute/adorablzz qhahahqgsg!) with the fan girling aside, I take so much pride in wearing these shoes. I literally need to carry deandri’s business cards because I’m asked every time where these shoes are from (＞人＜ . So this outfit is sort of an “ode to Deanna” since it’s pretty similar to her personal style… Haha. I hope you guys like it! I’m really happy with these photos （＾∇＾）!

Hey everyone! So this one is a little different… Haha. I really got to have a lot of fun with this shoot! It’s really not for my American book for modeling… But it was so worth it (￣∀￣) for some of you that know me, my favorite color is pink, and my favorite word is probably “kawaii” (in the least annoying way possible) so this shoot was a match made in heaven! I’ve wanted to shoot against a pink background foreverrrr ヽ(≧▽≦)ﾉ! I’m really happy with how cute it came out! Please let me know what you guys think? ヽ(´∀｀)ﾉ

Hello all! I hope you all had a great weekend! My week was very busy (ノ∀｀；) ! On Wednesday, I had a photo shoot for my blog. Thursday, I modeled for Flying Tomato. Friday, I had a styling gig. Saturday, I styled a beautiful new face at Ford, Romy Reiner (pics coming soon!) and I had a fitting for Deandri. Sunday I modeled for Deandri and Solestruck shoes! (Pics coming soon as well!) it was a really busy week but well worth it! I got a lot done and met a lot of amazing people! Haha and today I’m at home “relaxing” (which means doing everything I need to on the computer) anyways, enough about that! Onto my outfit post! ヾ(*ﾟｪﾟ*)ﾉ
I had the pleasure to work with Sylvia Gunde once again (met her on a modeling job a few months ago ) and it was such a pleasant experience! (I can’t wait to hang out and play video games with her! ((o(´∀｀)o)) ) I really love how the photos came out as well! They are so perfect and cute! I really like to wear stuff from the 80s, pastels were so big back then and I always find a lot of cool stuff from that time period! It’s so playful and fun! I think pairing it with the deandri’s helps to make the outfit a little more adult haha (although I do love my keds with this outfit!) (*>ω<*)
Anyways, I hope everyone is having a good Monday!
